I am using ATI 2019. Things have changed and now ATI creates a .tibx file that itself has lots of backups. But that breaks my MO. Is there a way to extract the backups to .tib files?

Right-click on the.tib file, and in the menu that opens, find Acronis and then Mount. Click on Mount, and this will open the Acronis Mount Wizard. (If you don't see the Mount option in the right-click menu, you can just open the Mount wizard from Acronis entry under Start Menu) In the Wizard, click Proceed. This file is not intended to be open like other files (e.g. Document file types). TIB file format is a backup of hard disk partition or folders and data are used for restore after system crash or failure. You can use Acronis True Image to access or view.TIB file contents or create accessible disk through.TIB file. How to convert. File extension tib mainly is associated with Acronis True Image, a disk imaging software that creates backups and recovers PC and macOS (OS X), developed by Acronis. True Image is nowadays one of the most used computer backup solutions for home users or businesses.

Eddy, .tibx files are only created by ATI 2020 for new Disk backups or else for Mobile backups of phones. If you are using ATI 2019 then ATI cannot open any .tibx files created by 2020, nor is there any way to extract those backups to .tib files.

Is there a way to tell ATI to create .tib files?

Eddy, if you are using ATI 2019 as per your initial post then all backups are of .tib file types.

If you are using ATI 2020 then all new Disk backups will create .tibx files but all Files & Folders still create .tib files.

1) Can you ask the developers to give an option so disk backups can create .tib files

2) How can I revert to 2019?

Eddy, sorry 1) isn't going to happen given Acronis have invested a significant amount of time to introduce .tibx file format and bringing this from their premium Acronis Backup business product range to ATI.

To revert back to ATI 2019 would require doing a full uninstall of ATI 2020 and deleting all tasks etc, using the Acronis Cleanup tool (link below) then reinstalling ATI 2019.

If you have a backup of your OS drive from before you installed ATI 2020, then you could restore that to revert back, but you would also undo any other OS and application changes that have been made since that time too.

In Acronis True Image you can recover files and folder both from file-level backups or from disk and Entire PC backups. You can restore files using Acronis True Image or in Windows Explorer.

How to restore files in Acronis True Image

To recover files and folders:

  1. Start Acronis True Image.
  2. On the sidebar, click Backup:
  3. From the backup list, select the backup which contains the files or folders that you want to recover:
  4. On the right panel, click Recovery:
  5. Select backup version (data state on specific date and time):
  6. Select the files and folders that you want to recover, and then click Next:
  7. Select a destination on your computer to where you want to recover selected files/folders.
    • You can recover data to its original location, as selected by default
    • Or choose a new one, if necessary. To choose a new location, click the Browse button:
When you choose a new location, the selected items will be recovered by default without recovering the original, absolute path. You may also wish to recover the items with their entire folder hierarchy. In this case select the Keep original folder structure check box.
  8. When needed, set the options for the recovery process (recovery process priority, file-level security settings, etc.). To set the options, click Options. The options you set here will be applied only to the current recovery operation.
  9. To start the recovery process, click the Recover now button.
You can stop the recovery by clicking Cancel. Please keep in mind that the aborted recovery may still cause changes in the destination folder.

How to restore files in File Explorer

To recover files and folders directly from File Explorer:

  1. Double-click the corresponding .tib file, and then browse to the file or folder that you want to recover:
  2. Drag and drop or copy and paste the file to a selected folder:

Note: The copied files lose the 'Compressed' and 'Encrypted' attribute. If you need to keep these attributes, it is recommended to recover the backup using Acronis True Image.
